The Future of Facebook is Happening Right Now

The days of having to wear big, ugly 3D glasses to get the full '3D experience' is a thing of the past.  You've probably seen 3D TVs, virtual reality, or even 3D printers, but this is way more user-friendly.  On top of that, it's accessible to anyone!  Well, anyone with a Facebook.

I was scrolling on my newsfeed yesterday and I came across one of my favorite types of posts.  I'm part of a worldwide 'dogspotting' group (you should totally join if you're obsessed with dogs like I am).  However, this post was not a normal post, this dog was POPPING OUT OF MY SCREEN AT ME.  Kind of.  Just watch for yourself.

Yeah, wild right?  According to Digital Trends -

On Thursday, October 11, Facebook launched 3D photos, a format that uses dual-lens smartphone photos to add dimension to images in the newsfeed. The result? Images that have depth and movement when you tilt your smartphone or view inside a headset.

So, how does it work?

Like moving a smartphone to pan around a Facebook panorama, 3D images in Facebook will respond to the movements of a mobile device — creating movements in the photo that give the image a sense of depth.

You can find the 3D Photo option by clicking on the ellipsis in the corner of the new post box.  I feel like technology is officially taking over, but I really don't mind if it means I get 3D dog pictures.
