There Are a Lot of Layers in Illinois’ Favorite Movie from The Early 2000s
Is your favorite movie from the early 2000s the same as the most searched in Illinois? It just might be.
You know what's kind of gross to think about sometimes... that the year 2000 was 22 years ago.
I remember exactly where I was when we flipped from 1999 to 2000 and even though I know I was only 13 years old at the time, it doesn't seem like it was over two decades ago.
But... it was.
And that means it's actually nostalgic to think back to the early 2000s and the movies we loved back when we feared our computers would freak out at midnight when we hit the new millennium.
Usually when I come across one of these 'most searched,' state maps I'm not in line with what the rest of Illinois picked, but this time I'm here for it.
The most searched 2000s movie in Illinois is... Shrek!
Shrek is literally one of the best movies ever made. It truly is.
I could be bias because I think everything Mike Myers does is great but c'mon you know you have a soft spot for that big layered ogre and his little donkey.
Shrek didn't pop up across the county though, it actually is only the most searched across four states, while American Psycho seems to take the take the win along with Transformers followed by Iron Man with a pop of Twilight.
The map was made based on data gathered by USDirect.com in their searched that included Marie Claire, Rotten Tomatoes, IMDb and Google Trends.
