If you're a millennial complaining about your salary, you're probably not the only one out there trying to survive on a budget.

According to ATTN, the average millennial across the country isn't doing so well in the salary category of life. Aside from those lucky few who are working in Washington D.C., most millennial are much closer to the $21,000 yearly paycheck, than $40,000.

Sure it's the first time that many of these people are in the career world, but a year at most universities costs more than this salary, which means student debt is at an all-time high.

So what's the deal in Illinois? The average millennial is making $23,000 a year in Illinois, which very close to the median salary across the country.

In case you, like me, always forget if you're a millennial or not, Pew Research Center says millennials are the group of people who were born between 1981 and 1997.

All of this explains why so many young adults live with their parents these days.
