TOP 50: Illinois Town Named One Of The ‘Sexiest Accents In America’

Don't you just love when Illinois makes a list that you can be somewhat proud of?  We've seen Illinois on the "worst state to live" list plenty of times, but this one is new!

Oh man, you don't want to hear my Midwesterner accent, it's the worst.  I'll admit I wish I had a different accent.  Out of all the places in the world, I couldn't have been born in France or Italy?  Their accents are soooooo beautiful! But nah, I had to get stuck with this 'valley girl' accent.

With gas prices skyrocketing in Illinois, The only thing IL really has going for it right now is making the TOP 50 list of sexiest accents in America.  Crazy right?

Though one Illinois city did rank extremely high on the list, let's take a look at some of the other top ranked accents in America!

 #4 Alabama

It is strongly rhotic, with extra ‘r’s added to words that don’t need them – like “warsh” instead of wash.

 

#3 Boston

just like Mahhhhk Wahlberg, locals really do say “pahk yuh cahr in hahvuhd yahd”.

 

 #2 New York

NYC speakers have loooong vowels and short ‘a’s. Fast and hypernasal, yet quite charming at times.

 

#1 Texas...

 The typical Texan accent is a “Southern accent with a twist”, with strong ‘r’s and plenty of ‘Howdy’s’.

 

By now you might have an idea where Illinois ranked. The good ol' #5!  Woo hoo!
