And in weather like this, you better learn the right way.

It. Is. Cold.

Like freezing cold. Technically much less than freezing, but you get where I'm going here. It's terrible.

Plus, it's only January, so you know we're stuck with this for at least another month.

According to Tip Hero, we're not warming up our cars the right way.

I am the opposite of an expert in this life skill, so I will try what Tip Hero has to say. I'm sure it's better than my idea: turn on seat warmers and try not to shake because I'm frozen.

Tip Hero says, instead do this:

  1. Get into your car. Turn the ignition on but don’t start the engine just yet.
  2. In 3-5 seconds, you should hear the fuel pump priming the engine. Start the car when this happens.
  3. Idle for about 10-20 seconds at the most.
  4. Slowly ease out of your parking spot and ease into driving.

Yep, it's as simple as that.

Does it work? I'll find out in about 3 hours.
