After hearing the audio of the original star of the movie, Chris Farley, along with donkey Eddie Murphy, I'm not sure it would have been the same, but I bet it would've still been pretty successful.

Chris Farley is trending on Facebook today because of this news, that he was originally cast as the voice of Shrek and actually recorded almost the entire movie before his death.

Once he died, the creators changed the voice of the character to Mike Meyers and thus we ended up with the version we've all seen on the big screen.
