University Of Wisconsin Grad Killed In Sri Lanka Terrorist Attack
Deiter Kowalski, a Milwaukee Wisconsin native, and UW graduate was one of nearly 300 people killed during the Easter terrorist attacks in Sri Lanka.
On April 19, Kowalski shared news of the trip on Facebook:
And the fun begins. Love these work trips. 24 hours of flying. See you soon Sri Lanka!
Kowalski was staying at the Cinnamon Grand hotel in Sri Lanka, one of three hotels hit yesterday (4/21) by suicide bombers.
HIs death was confirmed by John Fallon, CEO of Pearson, Kowalski's employers.
Fallon emailed employees sharing news of Kowalski's death.
I’m sorry to have to share the awful news that our colleague, Dieter Kowalski, was killed yesterday in the Easter Sunday atrocities in Colombo, Sri Lanka. Dieter had just arrived at his hotel, where many of our colleagues have stayed over the years when he was killed in an explosion.
