One of America’s ‘Fittest Cities’ is in Wisconsin
If you like to get in a nice walk or workout for about 30 minutes a day you probably would do well to live in this Wisconsin city.
I, like most of the residents in that Wisconsin town, try to get in a good sweat on just about every day.
In my view, physical activity is good for the body, soul, and mind, at least that's how it works for me.
Across the country, Madison is looked at as a top city. It's a great college town, a superb spot to raise a family, and an excellent place to work.
It's really hard to find negatives when talking about Madison. The 2023 American Fitness Index also says Madison is one of the fittest cities in the US.
Madison ranked 6th in personal health and 24th in community environment. Overall, the city was also ranked 6th right in front of San Francisco and seven spots ahead of Chicago.
Personal health factors evaluated include exercise and sleep habits, fruit and vegetable consumption, and the prevalence of health conditions like asthma, heart disease and diabetes in a city. Community and environment factors include air quality, residents' proximity to parks, walkability and a city's number of physical activity venues such as basketball hoops, playgrounds, recreation centers and swimming pools.
The fittest city in America is Arlington, Virginia while out of 100, the lowest scoring is Oklahoma City.
Nearby Milwaukee, also made the list ranked as 43rd fittest in the US.
