UW School of Veterinary Medicine gifted $250K After Super Bowl Ad
There was a lot of buzz heading into the Super Bowl about two commercials that had Illinois ties. The first was the Bill Murray Groundhog Day Jeep commercial filmed in Woodstock. The other was about Scout. Scout is a golden retriever and the family pet to the CEO of WeatherTech, David MacNeil, who resides in Naperville.
David was so thankful that University of Wisconsin-Madison School of Veterinary Medicine helped Scout fight and beat his cancer diagnosis that he decided to purchase a Super Bowl commercial to say thanks and raise awareness for all the amazing things UW-Madison does.
It's already paying off big time. Petco and Blue Buffalo have committed $250,000 to the School of Veterinary Medicine.
Many years ago, I had a dog that developed a tumor. Our regular vet recommended taking her to UW-Madison to have them look at her.
Unfortunately for our dog, it was too late. Of course there were options that could have done prolonged her life, but the quality of life would have been poor. Despite that, I feel that the people we worked with and encountered in our two visits to the school were amazing. They answered every question, gave us different options and had compassion. They understand that our pets are sometimes more than just pets — they're family.
If you would like to make sure that kind of care continues for many other families, you can make a donation to University of Wisconsin-Madison School of Veterinary Medicine by clicking here.
