What Rockford Wants: The 6 Things Locals Say We Need More Of
Rockford, you spoke, and we listened. Well, we read the Facebook comments, counted the likes, and now we’re here to talk about the things you think would make our city even better.
What’s one thing Rockford could use more of to make it even better?
Some are practical, some are wishful thinking. The exact question we asked on our Facebook page was:
1. More Grocery Store Options Like Trader Joe’s
Rockford, how many times must we suffer through driving 45 minutes to stock up on Cookie Butter and Two-Buck Chuck?

2. More Outdoor Music Venues
Summer concerts are great, but what if we had even more places to enjoy live music under the stars? Sure, we have some great options, but imagine a lakeside amphitheater where you can enjoy a local band while slapping away mosquitoes the size of small drones. Perfection.
3. More Veteran’s Homes
This one’s a no-brainer. Rockford should always strive to do more for those who served. More support, more resources, more places where our veterans can receive the care and respect they deserve. Let’s make it happen.
4. More Care for the Mentally Ill and Homeless
This came up over and over in the responses. Rockford has made strides, but there’s still a long way to go in providing adequate support, housing, and care. Let’s hope this conversation leads to action.
5. More Police Actually Giving Tickets for Running Red Lights
We get it—Rockford drivers love to treat red lights as gentle suggestions. But imagine a world where people actually stopped at intersections like they’re supposed to. Fewer near-death experiences at damn near every Rockford intersection.
6. More Cowbell
Got any more ideas? Drop them in the comments—let’s keep the conversation going.
