After the news yesterday it's safe to assume this might become a thing across many states in the US.

New York became the first state in the country to ban the declawing of cats.

Governor Andrew Cuomo signed the bill into legislation and it took effect immediately.

That more than likely means declawing, actually called onychectomy, will become a thing of the past for all cats in Illinois and the rest of the US too.

There are petitions across the internet demanding a declawing ban and even some specifically calling for it in Illinois.

The United States is one of the few countries that still allow declawing. It is outlawed in the United Kingdom including much of the European Union, Australia and at least ten other countries around the world" says Spruce Pets.
