Wisconsin Clifftop Home Gives Off Big ‘Falling To Your Death’ Energy
If you like to live dangerously, have we got a home for you.
I mean seriously, that's the only thing I could think of when I saw this now sold property on Zillow.
The home is hanging on a cliff and somehow someway the previous owners wanted nearly half a million dollars for it.
THE OWNERS ENDED UP SETTLING FOR HALF THE ASKING PRICE
Well, the owners didn't get the asking price for the home according to Pantagraph.com.
The five-lot property anchored by 7009 Novak Road sold for a little more than $250,000, according to Racine County records, almost $200,000 less than the online listed asking price. But much of the land is little more than rubble and the fully furnished home is at risk of demolition by nature.
Can you imagine what it must cost to insure a home that is "at risk of demolition by nature?"
I live in an area that is somewhat prone to flooding and I find that irritating. I can't begin to think about how horrific it would be to see my entire home fall off a cliff.
SO WHY BUILD A HOME ON A CLIFF?
Looking at the pictures it got me wondering why someone would build a home on a cliff. Turns out they didn't, it's just "nature" doing its thing.
In a matter of minutes during a massive storm in January 2020, up and down the coastline along southeast Wisconsin, dozens of feet of land disappeared into Lake Michigan, moving the bluff dangerously close to homes — one house in White River Township, Mich., collapsed because of the storms and a home in Pleasant Prairie was rendered unlivable at about the same time. The shoreline has continued to erode since.
As a parent, I don't think I'd ever be comfortable with having the kids play outside. Matter of fact, I don't think I'd be comfortable with going outside either.
