The Worst Halloween Candy You Could Possibly Hand Out in Illinois
Halloween was never about the costumes, it's really all about the candy. The costumes were just the cover story, the excuse to hit as many houses as possible before we couldn't carry our pillowcases anymore as kids.
When I was a kid, it was a full-blown competition to see who could get the most, and the best, candy by the end of the night. Every kid in the neighborhood was in on it! I, somehow, always ended up being the kid with the least candy, and the worst kinds. We all knew which houses were worth running to, though. They always handed out the king size bars! Now? Nobody does that because candy is way too expensive!

Let's be honest, a lot of houses hand out really terrible candy. So bad that you kinda wanna egg the houses to teach them a lesson (not that I ever did!). The candy sits at the bottom of your pillowcase forever, gets old, hard, and eventually you just toss it.
These are the candies that nobody, and I mean nobody, wants to see in their Halloween candy haul, ever.

- Candy Corn - tastes like sugary crayons
- Black licorice - it's not mysterious, just gross
- Jawbreakers - ain't nobody trying to break their teeth
- Any kind of wafers - give us some flavor, c'mon!
- Bit-O-Honey - okay, what even are these?
- Hot Tamales - the candy literally nobody asks for
- Peeps - It's not Easter, get with it
- Wax Bottles - they're fun to have, but not to eat
- Smarties - these taste fine, but who's really enjoying these?
- Healthy snacks - if it's not candy that'll make my teeth rot, I don't want it
