1984, The Greatest Year for Pop Music [PLAYLIST]
Rolling Stone magazine has determined that 1984 was pop music's greatest year. I couldn't agree more! It was the year I got my drivers license and my first ridiculously loud car stereo.
Before we get to the music of 1984, what else were we experiencing that year? Ronald Reagan was president, the first Apple Macintosh computer hit stores, the Cosby Show premiered, and a deadly F5 tornado nearly destroyed Barneveld, Wisconsin in June of 1984.
To prove that 1984 was the best, Rolling Stone compiled a list of the "Best 100 Singles." To qualify as one of the best, the song had to be released in 1984 or have significant chart impact that year, appearing high on the Billboard Hot 100. You really should check out how Rolling Stone presented their list, they wrote great stuff about EVERY song.

I like every song on this 100 list, some a little more than others. It's obvious that Rolling Stone magazine, like me, are BIG Prince fans and 1984 was a very successful year for Prince. Three of his hits are in the Top 10.
