4 Great Spots for Stand Up Paddle Boarding in Northern Illinois
Time to hit the road for a day filled with fantastic stand up paddle boarding (SUPing). There are a lot of great spots in the 815 and a couple not too far away.
ROCKTOWN ADVENTURES - Rockford, IL
Located at 313 N. Madison Street in Rockford. If you really don't want to drive very far, this is your spot. This is also the place to get SUP gear and accessories.
Rocktown will rent the stuff you'll need and the even offer shuttle service to a few stops on both the Rock and Kishwaukee rivers. They also hold special SUP Yoga events.
Recently, they even hosted a great 'intro to SUPing' class
WIHTE PELICAN - Oregon, IL
Located at 201 N 3rd St Oregon, IL, White Pelican sits on a very scenic stretch of the Rock River. In addition to SUP rentals, they also offer canoes, kayaks and tubes. They're open 7 days a week. They also ask that you reserve at least 2 hours before your trip by calling or texting 815-732-2775.
OLSON & PIERCE LAKES/ROCK CUT STATE PARK - Rockford, IL
Located at 7223 West Lane Road in Loves Park, IL The lakes are often so calm it looks like glass. You can't rent boards here, too.
MILL RACE CYCLERY - Geneva, IL
Located at 11 E State Street in Geneva. I love spending time in Geneva and being near the Fox River. When it comes to water sports on the Fox River, this is your spot.
