The ticket is worth $800,000, but the lucky winner has plenty of time to make their claim. Illinois Lottery winners have one year from the drawing date to collect their prize. Still, Illinois officials recommend taking a few precautions before celebrating. Make sure to sign the back of the ticket and keep it somewhere safe until they're ready to claim the winnings.
And while one person is walking away with potentially a life-changing payday, the store that sold the ticket gets a little something, too. The Elk Grove Village 7-Eleven will receive an $8,000 bonus for selling the ticket.
