97ZOK’s 2nd Annual ‘Holiday Wish’ was a Beautiful Success

For the second year, we asked for hand-written cards and letters that we could send to men and women of the U.S. Military serving away from home this Christmas.

To all of the parents and teachers who inspired so many children to write these letters and cards we say THANK YOU.

The response this year was bigger than last. Take a look at how many boxes will be filled with these wonderful messages and shipped all over the world by the Postal Shoppe. And this was just the beginning.

My tremendous thanks to Larry and Patty Hinkle, owners of the Postal Shoppe. They do so much for military families all year long. I cherish our long-time friendship.

Loneliness is one of the most soul-crushing emotions anyone can experience. Larry Hinkle, who served in the U.S. Army, recalls one New Year's Eve during Operation Desert Storm in pitch darkness next to his armored vehicle, staring into the sky wondering what his family was doing back home. It was a night when the sand in his eyes was washed away by lonely tears. His joy and purpose was restored by a taste of home when the Armed Forces Radio Network played Proud To Be An American by Lee Greenwood.
