Acclaimed Rockford Documentary Could Be An Oscar Winner
Rockford native, Bing Liu might need to make sure he's got some time to get to Los Angeles this coming February.
Because on Sunday, February 24, the 91st Academy Awards will air on ABC. If the past an indicator of what might come in the future, Liu's Rockford critically acclaimed documentary Mind The Gap will be up for Best Documentary.
Mind The Gap won Best Non-Fiction Film (Documentary) at the New York Film Critics Circle (NYFCC) Awards last week.
Last years winner, Faces Places was later nominated for Best Documentary at the Oscars. See where this is going? Liu's win at the NYFCC last week may have just cemented an Oscar nomination.
We're hoping to see a different result for Liu and Mind The Gap this time around. In 2018, Faces Places fell short of grabbing an Oscar, getting beat out by Icarus.
