Airplanes, Flowers and Bunnies are Taking Over Downtown Rockford
Have you been to downtown Rockford this month? It sure looks a lot different than it did as we entered 2024 and we (mostly) love it.
We're always writing about the awesome food we have in Rockford and that is SO true, but there's something else that's also really awesome in Rockford, especially downtown, the artwork!
Whether we're talking about actual art work hanging in restaurants and lounges throughout the city or the huge murals taking over exterior building walls, downtown is LOADED with art.

And some of this art is brand new.
The city of Rockford celebrated art of all kinds at the end of May with the CR8IV Music and Arts Fest and that event kicked off the final year of murals in the city.
Some of the art was completed that day, like this Find Your Joy piece.
And the fun crosswalk additions near Rockford Art Deli.
And some other murals are still a work in beautiful progress, I can't wait to see this airplane mural when it's done!
The other very notable addition to downtown Rockford this summer is the giant bunny in the hat, sitting right in the heart of the Rockford City Market area.
I'm still a little confused by this one.
For starters, I can't seem to remember what was there before, so this much larger piece was a bit startling to see when it arrived.

I do love the magical element and the colors, but why does the bunny have to be so upset? I would swap those furrowed brows for some happy ones if it was up to me, but hey I'm not an artist.
What do you think?
