Alyssa Milano Addresses Possible ‘Charmed’ Revival at CBS
FOX’s X-Files reunion may have given a slight pinprick to the bubble of classic TV revivals floating across the landscape, but that might not stop CBS from reviving the witchy Charmed with its original cast. Following recent rumors and past effort to reboot, original Charmed star Alyssa Milano clarifies some recent comments on the Halliwell sisters’ return.
Take this all with a grain of salt for the moment, as the erstwhile Phoebe Halliwell acknowledged the prematurity of her own comments, though Milano got Charmed fans’ hopes up with a recent Entertainment Tonight quote saying “It seems like [a cast reunion] going to happen any second. I just feel like with all these [TV] reunions… someone’s going to put that together at some point. And we’re all totally on board for that!”
We don’t have to tell you how fans can pick up that ball and run, though the former series star took to Twitter to clarify a few of her comments, even referencing CBS’ 2013 development of a reboot with all-new cast:
That “decision” seems to have been made by three years of development limbo, though Milano at least has a point on the supernatural series fitting current criteria for a limited revival of some sort. The original San Francisco-set series ran from 1998 to 2006, featuring Milano, Holly Marie Combs and Shannen Doherty as three sibling witches, and a number of early turns for stars like Kaley Cuoco, Norman Reedus, Amy Adams, Ron Perlman and more.
No doubt CBS is aware of the current conversation, but is Charmed worth heaping into the revival furnace?
