The Price Is Right Is Making 50 Stops Across The Country To Celebrate The Show's 50th Anniversary
The Price Is Right is the longest running game show in TV history, and is the #1 rated daytime series on network television. Since the show's premiere on September 4th, 1972, over $300,000,000 in cash and prizes has been given away. 2 million people have attended a taping of the show, and 68,000 have gone on to become contestants.
The first go-around for The Price Is Right happened back in 1956, with Bill Cullen as the host. That show was cancelled after 9 years in 1965, but was resurrected in 1972 with Bob Barker taking over the hosting, and has gone strong ever since, even when Bob stepped down and Drew Carey became the host.
