Apparently, my six-year-old son was very proud of what I do for a living yesterday.

That's because as I was picking him up from another day at camp, I was handed this:

He must've been telling some of the counselors about his dear old Dad and they saw a great opportunity to promote something they're involved with and good on 'em for doing so. This sounds like a totally neat thing and I'm all about finding ways to support the 815.

After all, this is the summer of the Rockford Peaches, isn't it?

I mean it's the 30th anniversary of the film's release, the trailer for the new Prime Video show just came out and now there's a totally original musical inspired by the Peaches opening in Rockford in just a few weeks.

Obviously, I'm going to have to take my youngest son to the show because clearly, he's a fan of these counselors, and who doesn't love a good musical?

The Girls of Summer is being put on The Studio which previously produced performances of Elf, The Descendants, Matilda, and Frozen. This one is centered around the All-American Girls Baseball League's (AAGBL) most historic team, the Rockford Peaches.

The show opens on Friday, July 22 at Rockford University's Maddox Theatre, 5050 East State Street. Show dates also include Saturday and Sunday matinee and evening shows.

The Girls of Summer wraps the following weekend (7/29-7/30) with four more shows.

You can buy tickets in advance HERE, this show is certain to be a home run.
