Another Downtown Rockford Restaurant Has Temporarily Closed
Y'all, I'm about at my wits end with this COVID-19 stuff. I'm over it messing with our lives, and I'm over people refusing to do what's right so COVID can get the heck out of our fair city.
Too many Rockford restaurants and businesses and having to make announcements just like this one from Woodfire Pizza ...
For the record, I am not mad at Woodfire for temporarily shutting down, it's what needs to happen in COVID-19 exposures. I'm just sad local businesses are having to endure the stress and loss of income these situations create.
Winnebago County is teetering on the border of 8% COVID-19 positivity rate, and that means we're just a hop, skip, and jump away from shutdown again. Not good. Our businesses need to stay open. Our schools need to stay in session with in-person learning.
I get it, wearing masks suck, but businesses going out of business and residents losing jobs sucks far worse, and that is exactly what will continue to happen if our community continues to act selfishly and irresponsibly.
I know many people reading this don't buy into the whole COVID-19 thing, and I'm not trying to change your point of view, I am just pleading with you to be a team player. Mask up for the greater good and future of this community. It may be uncomfortable for you, but it could prevent the devastation of so many families and livelihoods in Rockford.
