Apparently Illinois is The Most Hated State in The Country

Well this is awkward. It feels like were that kid at school that everybody spent all day and night talking bad about. And now we have to show up at school and pretend we're okay. What did we do?

According to a new survey by Zippia, Illinois is the most hated state. It would be bad enough if this was just determined by asking other states who they hate the most. But part of determining this survey was actually asking residents of states if they enjoy living there. Spoiler alert - Illinois residents hate living in Illinois.

These are the three metrics Zippia used to determine the most hated state -

• The percent of residents who say the state is the “worst possible state to live in”
• The states with the biggest decrease in population
• Nationwide, the number of other states who say the hate a state the most

So it's not even like were just unliked by the rest of the country, we're unliked by our very own people!

So what other states made the list? Here's the top ten most hated states according to Zippia -

1. Illinois
2. New Jersey
3. New York
4. West Virginia
5. California
6. Massachusetts
7. Michigan
8. Mississippi
9. Connecticut
10. Kentucky

Looks like the list is filled with states with big cities. So what states are the most liked?

1. Colorado
2. Utah
3. Montana
4. Idaho
5. Minnesota

So I guess states with good views and good weather are the most liked. I'm still upset Illinois is the most hated. I'm not surprised, just disappointed.
