Aretha Franklin has an album coming out on October 21st called "Aretha Franklin Sings the Great Diva Classics" and it includes covers of songs by Etta James, Barbra Streisand and Chaka Khan, Alicia Keys, Adele and more.

The first single is her version of Adele's "Rolling in the Deep" and Aretha can still wail.  Towards the end is my favorite part and you'll feel something swelling when you hear the backup singers kick in. The song turns into a mashup of 'Rolling' and Marvin Gaye and Tammi Terrell's "Ain't No Mountain High Enough." SUPERB!

(It's also available on iTunes, and here's the album's full track list.)

Aretha performed this song last night (9/30) on The Late Show with David Letterman. One of the backup singers is Whitney Houston's mom, Cissy Houston (she's over Artetha's right shoulder bingo arm). Nice to see that Cissy forgot the lyrics... real professional. I want to believe there was 'Diva Fight' backstage over that. Aretha is a NATIONAL TREASURE... you get your s#@! together before you hit the stage with her.
