Carnival rides, rigged fair games, and extremely overpriced food.  The three things we look forward to the most when fairs arrive in Illinois.  Am I wrong?

Nobody ever goes to the fair and expects to just hangout.  We all have a reason for going, whether it's to people watch, stuff our faces with funnel cakes, or vomit after one-too-many rides.

Back up a second.... a funnel cake does sound really delicious.  You know what else sounds good?  More deep fried desserts straight from the fair.

Here's what I crave whenever the fair comes to town:

  • Deep Fried Oreos
  • Filled Churros
  • Giant Turkey Legs
  • Deep Fried Pickles
  • A Large, Fresh-Squeezed Lemonade

Are your taste buds screaming right now?  They sure are.

Now you're probably wondering... what do Illinois  residents crave the most when they get hangry at a festival?  It's my favorite deep fried food on the planet.

It's deep fried, dipped in batter, and on a stick.  Have a guess?

A deep fried corn dog.  My goodness, I could go for a big ol' corn dog right about now.  I'm just dreaming about the crunch, the tanginess of the ketchup, and how gigantic these corn dogs are.

Next time you're at a festival in town, make sure to grab yourself a corn dog and take a picture with it.  Did you really enjoy a fair dog without taking a photo with it?  Ain't no shame in my corn dog game - it's a moment to remember, always.
