October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month and Rockford is celebrating in a pretty amazing way on Saturday, October 8th!

Many years ago, my grandma was diagnosed with the cruel disease; breast cancer.  When we got the news, our entire family could not believe it was happening to someone so close to us. Fortunately, she is a fighter, survivor, and living her best life now - cancer free!

To the families who have lost their loved ones to this vicious disease, we will never stop fighting to end breast cancer as we know it.

In honor of Breast Cancer Awareness Month, the American Cancer Society is hosting a 2(ish) mile walk at Rock Valley College on Saturday, October 8th.

The event starts at 8am with a bounce house, a pink chair for photo ops, survivor engagement and celebration, picture booth, and so much more.

After the National Anthem and words from Survivors, the walk begins a little after 9am!  Event ends at 11am. There will be no pets allowed, no alcohol, and no smoking on event grounds.  You can find the event map here!

"We know the future can be free from breast cancer. We’re asking you to join the movement and sign up to save lives. Your support will help the American Cancer Society to invest in groundbreaking research, provide free rides to chemo and places to stay near hospitals, and 24/7 answers and support for those facing the disease." - acsevents
