Can You Really Teach A Dog To Do Anything?
If you know me, you know I like animals more than I like most people. I'm happiest at home surrounded by all of my dogs. To me, dogs really make the world go round. If you think about it, they listen to your problems, they make things better by making you smile, and they cuddle with you on cold nights. Nothing is better than a dog. The story that Steve and I told you this morning, just proves that.
Major, is a Labrador retriever pit bull mix, who spends his days with his owner Terry McGlade, a U.S. Marine who suffers from PTSD and has seizures after being wounded by an IED in Afghanistan. When McGlade had a seizure earlier this month, Major, a trained rescue dog, knew exactly what do to. He called for help. Not by whining, or barking, but by pawing at his owners I-Phone, in which he retrieved from his pocket.
Mayor called 911 by repeatedly stepping on the cell phone several times, alerting dispatchers who heard McGlade in the background having a seizure. Major's owner says the dog called 911 a total of 10 times.
With help on it's way, Major waited on the curb in front of the house, leading EMT's to his owner. McGlade says if it wasn't for his dog he wouldn't be alive today.
Kind of makes you look at your dog in a different light, doesn't it?
