With the Super Bowl this weekend, all eyes will be on the city of Minneapolis for the next few days; but come this spring, all eyes will be on Rockford.

The Forest City is gaining national attention as it prepares to celebrate the Rockford Peaches 75th anniversary and the addition of the International Women’s Baseball Center.

According to The Washington Post, Rockford will host a series of events starting May 30th that include an exhibition game, an outdoor screening of the movie, and the return of some of the cast members.

I know Tom Hanks said "there's no crying in baseball," but in this case I think it's OK to cry just a little, because Tom and Gina Davis will not be making an appearance (who knows, we could get a nice surprise and they'll show up), but Megan Cavanagh, Renee Coleman, Anne Cusack, Patti Pelton, Anne Ramsay, Tracy Reiner and Bitty Schram will be in attendance.

Anyone who lives in Rockford can't miss this event this spring.
