The rumors that have been running wild behind the scenes for a while are now a reality...the Chicago Bears have officially put a bid in on Arlington Park. First they trade up to get a FRANCHISE QUARTERBACK for the first time ever, and now they could be moving!

Here is the official statement:

We recently submitted a bid to purchase the Arlington International Racecourse property. It’s our obligation to explore every possible option to ensure we’re doing what’s best for our organization and its future. If selected, this step allows us to further evaluate the property and its potential. - Ted Philips Chicago Bears CEO

As a lifetime Chicago Bears fan, I am utterly surprised. This is an organization that has been happy "just being the Chicago Bears" for decades. Yes there was the Super Bowl win in 1985, and they returned in 2006, but in between (a lengthy in between) it's been a whole lot of suck, as other NFL teams build and rebuild and win. So why try so hard now, why give a crap about the fans wants and needs....finally. Why now?

Diehard Bears fans have yelled, kicked, and screamed about building a better team and how dam ugly Soldier Field is, for years. The year the spaceship landed on top of this historic stadium I thought it was a bad dream...for like a year.

So, here we go Chicago Bears fans...will we see a NEW STADIUM at Arlington Park? I say yes, and YES! Bear Down!!!
