COVID Kept Us From The Pools in 2020, Now Rockford Needs Lifeguards
After a summer without public pools in the Rockford area, it looks like 2021 is going to be a different story.
While we're still dealing with COVID, the Park District is hoping for better (and sunnier) days ahead.
That's why they announced they're looking for lifeguards at Alpine, Harkins, and Sand Park pools for the season.
The pay is $12 per hour and kicks off sometime in May and wraps up in September.
According to the Rockford Park District website, qualified individuals must be at least 16 years old, available to work 32 hours a week, including weeknights, weekends, and holidays.
Applicants must also be certified in First Aid and CPR. Obviously, you've got to be able to swim in order to get the gig. The other thing that nearly goes without saying, is you're going to be outdoors for nearly every moment of the day.
So if exposure to the heat and sun isn't your thing, being a lifeguard for the Rockford Park District might not work out for you.
On the other hand, if you can swim, and enjoy hanging out by the pool, could you do any better than being a lifeguard for the summer?
I mean, talk about the ultimate summer job.
