Looking to get away for a nice night out in Illinois? This might just be the spot for you.

Especially if you're looking to go to another time and another place.

Great restaurants usually have the ability to kind of make you forget where you're eating. As in, the ambiance, the food, and service just "transport" you somewhere else.

That's exactly what LoveFood was getting at when they doled out their list of America's Most Charming Small Town Restaurants and said their pick from Illinois will "transport you to Tuscany."

LoveFood:

Located on the cobbled streets of Galena, Vinny Vanucchi’s is a beautifully rustic Italian restaurant that will transport you to Tuscany. The spacious venue has four dining areas, including a cappuccino garden, making social distancing easy. The pollo compomare (chicken, broccoli, mushroom and tomato in a creamy, spicy sauce with linguine) and the spaghetti olio (with olive oil, garlic, fresh basil and chili) come highly recommended.

Rated 3.5 out of 5 on Yelp, one reviewer said it "Felt like I was sitting in Italy." but another said, "Food was below average, could've gotten the same or better at Olive Garden."

It sounds like Vinny Vanucchi's in Galena has its supporters and detractors. However, reviews have been mostly positive by people who ate at this restaurant.

Open daily from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m., Vinny Vanucchi's is located at 201 South Main Street in Galena.
