A mother left her husband and her newborn son, because he was born with Down Syndrome.

My heart is breaking for Samuel Forrest and his newborn son, Leo.  Just one week after his son was born, Forrest's wife filed for divorce because she thought Leo's disability would bring shame to the family.  How could any mother possibly feel this way about her own child? Even at 18, when my son was born and I was incapable of taking care of him by myself, I couldn't give him up for anything.

Baby Leo was born in Armenia and Forrest was unaware of the hospital practices when it came to children there.  In Armenia, if a child is born with a disability like down syndrome, they'll tell the parents that they don't have to keep the baby. Those that are rejected by the parents are often sent to orphanages or boarding schools.

When Forrest went to visit his wife in the hospital room, with Leo, she gave him an ultimatum right then and there.  She told him that if he kept the baby, she'd divorce him. Forrest had already fallen in love with Leo and he was absolutely going to keep him.

Not knowing what do on his own, Forrest started a GoFundMe page titled, "Bring Leo Home"; hoping to raise enough money to return to New Zealand and take care of Leo for at least the first year. He's already surpassed his goal of $60,000.

Let's help bring Leo home.
