Dad Of The Year: Illinois Man wins $1M Powerball

An Illinois family a million dollars richer after snagging a major Powerball win.

The winners call themselves the "Malongo" family to stay completely anonymous.  They said it was just a normal day for them when they went to Exxon Mobil in Bensenville to get a car wash.  While they were at the gas station, the dad decided to grab a Powerball ticket.  That last-minute decision ended up changing their lives forever!

The Illinois dad's Powerball ticket matched all five numbers in the August 9th drawing: 7-14-23-24-60.  What luck!

Imagine looking down at your ticket and realizing you just won a million dollars.  I don't know what it's like, but I'm just hoping one day I get the chance to feel that kind of win.  Don't we all?

The man's wife thought it was a joke.  Once they confirmed the numbers and secured the win, her reaction was basically, "we're going to Disney World!"  Well, they've decided they're using the money on something meaningful, furthering their kids' education.  And Disney is obviously going to happen!

They family said they hope the big win brings them a little more peace and less stress in their lives going forward.  That's exactly how it should be after you win a buttload of money!  A million dollars might not fix all your problems, but it will definitely open so many doors for the Malongo family and experiences they probably never thought they'd get to share together.
