Using the latest FBI crime data and Census Bureau stats, this ranking calculates the number of violent crimes per 1,000 residents in cities with populations of 25,000 or more.
Violent crimes—defined as murder, rape, armed robbery, and aggravated assault—are the driving factors behind the rankings.
