Hungry Rockfordians get pumped. When Disco Chicken opens in downtown Rockford this summer, the kitchen will stay open way later than you expected.

Rockford has so many great things to offer, especially downtown.

We're lucky enough to have two sports/music/comedy venues that are hosting some huge performers this summer, we have a ton of great boutiques to shop along State Street, and we have some fantastic bars and restaurants.

The only problem with some of those bars and restaurants is... what time the kitchen closes. You know, we're hungry after 10 p.m. here in Rockford too... especially if we're out at some of those fantastic bars.

Which is why I am BEYOND excited to tell you that when Disco Chicken opens in the former Taco Betty's location on East State Street the kitchen will be open late... EVERY DAY OF THE WEEK.

I'm not yelling at you, I'm just that excited!

For years I've been hoping more restaurants would be open on Sundays in the downtown area, and knowing that Disco Chicken (and that rooftop we've all missed so much) will be open on Sundays is incredible.

But, when I also read in the Rock River Current that the kitchen will stay open until midnight every night and until 2 a.m. on Fridays and Saturdays... I'm bursting at the seams! Sure, maybe I should be going to bed before 2 a.m. on the weekends, but sometimes I like to stay out late AND we have plenty of people working downtown who don't get a chance to eat dinner until super late.

Just think about all of the behind the scenes crew members who tear down shows at the Coronado and the BMO? You know they'll be loving some loaded tater tots after midnight.

I could go for some right now... according to that Rock River Current story, we'll have to wait 4-6 weeks for the Disco Chicken arrival, but I can try to be patient knowing I can stop by on a Sunday afternoon to sit on that rooftop after eating those tots at 1 a.m. the night before.
