It's been over 20 years since the amazing concert venue Poplar Creek Music Theater closed.

And since yesterday was National Concert Day (I know, everyday is a "day") I figured I would share this pretty cool video with you.

In case you're late to the party, before driving to Tinley Park to see a show was a thing, music fans would travel to Poplar Creek in Hoffman Estates to see a show.

This was my concert venue when I was a kid. Not so much me, but I remember my parents going to shows there, and thinking it sounded so cool.

The theater opened in 1980 and stayed that way for nearly 15 years. According to the Poplar Creek Music Theater Wikipedia page, "Attendance began to dwindle in the late 1980s, and Poplar Creek faced competition from the opening of the World Music Theater (now Hollywood Casio Amphitheatre) in Tinley Park in 1990. Sears acquired the property in 1989 and allowed Poplar Creek to remain in operation until 1994."

The place was closed down and a few years ago the Sears Centre was opened in nearly the same location as the outdoor theater.

So let's take a trip in the way back machine and see at what the theater looked like after it closed down less than a year after. The video was posted to YouTube late in February by user A.A. Ron Balakay.
