My Biggest Driving Pet Peeve in Rockford Right Now
I have officially developed a new driving pet peeve simply by driving in Rockford, and construction season is definitely to blame.
"CLOSED TO THRU TRAFFIC."
We might have different ideas on what that means, but as long as I've been driving.. that means only people who need to use that street can go through.
Apparently, that's not always the case.

This happened to me a handful of times on Madison Street already this week. I'll see the construction sign that says, "Local Traffic Only," and think, "Okay.. perfect. I can go down Madison, get to my house. Simple. Easy. Painless."
Wrong.

As I'm driving down the street, the road is completely blocked off and you have to whip a u-turn in the middle of the road. I end up having to go all the way back to North 2nd, taking a right at the light, and figure out a different route.
SO FRUSTRATING! The construction has actually been really confusing this year with all the cones that aren't in their proper spots.
If I see "Road Closed Ahead," I believe it.
If I see "Detour," I'm taking the detour.
But "Local Traffic Only" has lost all my trust now.
My boyfriend was driving down Charles a couple months ago and we flew right into a construction zone because there weren't enough signs or cones to tell where we were supposed to drive. Went down the sand ramp they carved out, and literally sat to take in everything that had just happened.
Then, he put his car in reverse and backed out. We ended up driving off leaving no trace behind that we were there! Wild that it happened, but hilarious because it would happen to us. We're prone to getting ourselves in sticky situations haha.
