After humans right organizations called this practice "technically flawed" Facebook has finally changed course.

The "real name" policy that has been a part of Facebook since its inception is now going to change in December.

Well, kind of. They will begin testing the new feature on Facebook that will however still require "authentic names" when signing up for an account on their social media site.

The difference is, this policy will now allow people who may have been in abusive relationships, have dealt with offline violence or transgender men or women an opportunity to use a name that can't be confirmed with an ID.

According to The Guardian, "the site will now allow users to “provide more information about their circumstances” in order to “give additional details or context on their unique situation”."

Besides an ID, Facebook plans to allow users to confirm their identity by using utility bills, bank statements, library cards, and even magazine subscription labels.
