Parents, here's the perfect opportunity to plan an educational (and budget-friendly) outing during spring break, which for most Illinois public school students is Monday, March 24 - Friday, March 28.
Here's where you can go without spending a dime.
Art Institue of Chicago
Children under 14 always get free admission at the Art Institute, but thanks to a special donation, students ages 14-17 can visit for free as well. This is a great chance for kids to see famous works like American Gothic and A Sunday on La Grande Jatte up close.
Adler Planetarium
Illinois residents can visit Adler for free on Wednesday from 4 p.m. to 10 p.m. Tickets must be purchased online in advance, and proof of residency is required.
Chicago History Museum
Learn all about the city's rich past with free admission on March 27. Tickets can be reserved online.
DuSable Black History Museum and Education Center
This museum offers free admission on Wednesdays, but pre-registration is required. Illinois public school students (K-12) always get in free.
Field Museum
Illinois residents get free admission on Wednesdays, including March 26. Don't miss the chance to see Sue the T. Rex up close.
Shedd Aquarium
