Between rising ticket prices and airlines bumping up checked bag fees, every decision feels like a financial strategy... including where you sit.

According to Rockford travelers, there's one seat that's a universal "no thanks".

As more people return from spring break trips and start planning summer vacations, the debate over whether it's worth paying to pick your seat is heating up.  But even with tighter budgets, many say the middle seat just isn't worth the savings.  Sure, it's usually the cheapest option, but it also comes with zero elbow room, no window, and no easy aisle access.  Basically, you're stuck between two strangers if you're traveling alone.

So what seats are we really hoping we get?

For a lot of travelers, it depends on the comfort and the length of the flight.  If you're looking to relax, the window seat is a top pick.  It gives you a place to rest your head and a view that makes the trip feel a little more exciting.  On the other hand, the aisle seat is perfect for those who want extra legroom or easy access to the bathroom, especially on longer flights.

Some seasoned travelers even hold out for the emergency exit row, hoping to score extra legroom without paying extra.
