Girl Scout Cookies & The 1975 [VIDEO]

The JFK assassination, John Lennon murdered, the Challenger explosion. Most people remember exactly what they were doing when those events happened, but do you remember exactly what you were doing when you heard a GREAT song for the first time?

After Saturday night, now I know why I remember what I was doing the first time I heard "Chocolate" by The 1975. I was doing a live broadcast with several Rockford-area girl scouts for "Cookie Sales Kickoff", it was February 7th and I was in the WalMart parking lot on State St. standing dangerously close to a propane heater to keep from freezing... we all were! Then this song came blasting through the speakers...

I remembered this, I think, because it was going to come back into my life on a great night. Saturday I went back to my hometown, Madison, WI., to see The 1975 at the historic Orpheum Theater with my sister. A woman who in the midst of atrocities always took care of me and protected me as best she could. We haven't been to a concert together since she took me to the Jackson's Victory tour in 1984 at old Comiskey Park in Chicago. This theater...

...holds several great memories for me but not for my sister and Saturday night we made a memory ALL OUR OWN that nobody can ever take away from us.
