It just got cheaper for you to shop at Oakbrook Center and many other shopping hotspots in Chicago's western suburbs.

Starting today (6/1) shoppers in DuPage will be paying less sales tax. Not a lot less,but LESS! General merchandise bought in the county will drop a quarter percent. The next sales tax is now 7 percent, down from 7.25 percent, according to NBCChicago.

DuPage County raised the tax to 7.25 percent thirty years ago to hep the struggling Water Commission. Officials say this decrease should save us taxpayers $36 million.
