Like many other families, we usually get to request a special dinner or pick out a restaurant to grab some to go to or sit down to eat.

This restaurant has been a go-to of mine for some time.

I fell in love with it after meeting some of the folks who work there, and since then, I have done my very best to make sure you know that it exists.

Despite its unconventional location in a gas station, Smokehouse Barbecue in Rockford serves some of the best BBQ dishes I've ever had.

This comes from someone who has had their fair share of BBQ in Kansas City and Chicago.

I had some fantastic meals in both cities, and I have to tell you, Smokehouse Barbecue in Rockford can hang with all the big-city bad boys of BBQ.

I'm not the only one who thinks so. Greg W. on Yelp says the restaurant should be on a Food Network show "like Diners Dives or whatever."
