The Midwest is officially the hottest real estate region in the country, according to Realtor.com’s latest “Hottest ZIP Codes” ranking, and both Wisconsin and Illinois are well-represented on the list. Out of the 50 most in-demand ZIP codes in the U.S., more than half are right here in the heartland.
What Makes a ZIP Code “Hot”?

Realtor.com’s study looked at two key factors: market demand (how many buyers are interested) and market pace (how quickly homes sell). The hottest spots have listings that barely get a chance to hit the market before they’re gone. In other words, if you see something you like, you’d better be ready to move fast.

For Illinois residents, the good news is you don’t have to look far to find these hot housing markets. Rockford’s own 61108 ZIP code earned an impressive No. 11 spot in the national ranking.
