How I Finally Beat Rockford’s All Time Best Girls Basketball Team
The 1990-91 Jefferson High School Basketball team is the best in Rockford girls basketball history. I wanted to see just how unbeatable they still are.
No other girls basketball team in RPS 205 history has aver out-performed this J-Hawks team. These women finished the 1990-1991 season 26-4, after winning their regional, sectional and beating Rock Island 48-45 for the supersectional title. The J-Hawks earned a trip to the IHSA State Tournament where they lost to Rich South 56-50. No other RPS girls basketball team has ever reached state. Those were some the words I delivered from the stage during the 2018 Champions Ball. It's a night of inductions into the Rockford Public Schools Athletic Hall of Fame. The 1990-91 Jefferson High School Girls Basketball team was among the inductees.
Before the big night, I met some of that team at the UW Sports Factory in downtown Rockford to see just how good they still are. It took me quite a while and a lot of laughter to find a way to finally beat them.
Congratulations to all of the 2018 inductees, but these women will always hold a special place in my heart.

This wasn't the first time I've headed out to mess with a Rockford School Athletic Hall of Fame team. This next video was with the 1997 State Champion East High School Girls Bowling Team.
