Sleet started to blanket the Rockford area just after 6 a.m. today making travel a bit risky for some.

The National Weather Service's Chicago office is reporting the Rockford area could see 2 to 3 inches of sleet before the storm is over. Higher amounts of sleet are predicted for the area west of Rockford.
