I had only been married 3 months and I thought the world was coming to an end. September 11, 2001 was a day we CAN'T forget for many reasons. But has the world changed? And what does Lenny Kravitz have to do with bolstering my resolve.

I didn't want to be anywhere but next to my new bride after the show ended that morning. I sat in the lobby of her office watching the TV wondering, as we all did, what is happening to our world. There was no way to make sense of any of it. Now, 13 years later what's changed?

The world doesn't seem to have changed that much but individually did we? 'Resolve' was the word we heard often and I can tell you beyond any doubt that my resolve changed. I have moved forward past many things that used to hold me back. I firmly believe that, in this life, it's not WHAT happens to you that changes you, it's HOW YOU REACT to what happens to you that makes all the difference between success and failure.

Now the Lenny Kravitz connection and how it improved my resolve this week. Those who pre-ordered his new album "Strut" which comes out September 23, have been getting a new song from the album each Tuesday. This week it was a song titled "New York City" and check out some of the lyrics:

She is my heart,
I love New York City
She's lived and died
So many times, yeah!
Life is always tough
On New York City, oh love
But she is fine, she always survives, yeah!

...She's a queen that stands her ground
Nobody can take her down...

She is a rock
As we pull but she is steady
And no one can take her freedom away, yeah
(Can't take her freedom)
I love her style
Whether she is clean or dirty
She's the greatest town that you'll ever find, yeah!

Be New York City... Be invincible... Be strong... Be bold... Keep moving forward by changing the way you react to the tragedies in your life.
