Today is the 13th anniversary of the September 11 terror attacks. New York is planning a moment of silence and the name of those killed will be read. There will also be an observance ceremony at the Pentagon.

Our Six Moments of Silence Today
In 2001, at 7:46 A.M. and 8:03 A.M., two hijacked planes were crashed into the World Trade Center.  Two other suicide flights crashed at the Pentagon and in the woods of Pennsylvania
8:59 a.m.: The south tower collapses.
9:03 a.m.: Passengers launch a counterattack on hijackers aboard United Airlines Flight 93. The hijackers crashed the plane into an empty field near Shanksville, Pa.
9:28 a.m.: The north tower collapses.

A total of 2,792 people died in the World Trade Center attacks;  184 innocent people died in the Pentagon attack (including those on the plane), and 40 died in the plane that crashed in Pennsylvania.

The 9/11 Memorial Museum is 110,000 square feet of space, and honors the victims of terrorist attacks on both September 11, 2001 and February 26, 1993, and cost $700 million to build. The funds came from private and public donations.
