You're driving around Rockford and you run into the usual suspects every time you head home or go to work, awful mistimed or weight street lights.

Here are five of the most annoying intersections in town and a few tips on how to avoid them altogether.

1. North Alpine and Brendenwood roads

This is a personal favorite of mine. I drive it everyday and everyday I find a way around the intersection. Going right? If you're traveling east on Brendenwood Road, turn right on to Sterling Drive, then a quick left on to Abbotsford Road and cruise right up to Alpine. You're all set.

2. Mulford Road and East State Street

Traveling to Best Buy, Target or the grocery store and want to get around the brutal lights at Mulford and East State? If you're traveling south down Mulford take a quick left at Garrett Lane and travel behind East State. It'll save you so much time and effort. I love it.

3. East State Street and Perryville Road

This is the most annoying and busiest intersection in Rockford, according to me. If you're trying to get to the mall and traveling east down East State Street take a quick right at Mill Road and avoid all the congestion at the East State and Perryville Road intersection. Follow Mill Road along it will open up to Perryville. Take a right and your on your way to the mall.

4. Avoiding East State Street Completely To Get Downtown

If you're on traveling from the north Rockford, Loves Park or Machesney Park and headed downtown, take Second Street south. Before it empties on to East State St. take a quick right at Y Boulevard and follow that around and turn left on Madison. Take Madison south until you hit East State. Congrats, you've just avoided a ton of stoplights.

5. Riverside Boulevard and North Alpine Road

Driving around late night and still hitting all the stoplights, especially at Riverside and Alpine? Don't drive on East Riverside Blvd. and take Spring Creek Road instead. Late at night most of the lights on Spring Creek are turned to "caution" only. That way you can use your caution and avoid having to take Riverside where all the lights are red. I'm joking of course, but you'll save a ton of time getting to where you need to go that much faster.

Take all of this info with a grain of salt. I'm not the best driver in the world, however I know how to get where I need to in Rockford faster than most. It could be that I grew up in Chicago and that's just how I was taught or I have little patience for traffic lights.

Matter of fact, I was driving some friends around town this past weekend when after we pulled into the parking lot he asked "if I raced go-karts growing up." I didn't. I just know how to get where I'm going and get there quickly.

Did I miss any? What are some of your Rockford road traffic light hacks? Let me know!
